What To Expect?
Memorandum of Understanding
We will ask to engage in a Memorandum of Understanding with your organization to ensure that Organizations are aware of our pricing, our rules and expectations with partnerships, and other important information within a service agreement.
Calls with Case Managers
Case Managers are usually our point of contact for the move. However, we ask that Case Managers communicate with their clients continually throughout the process of working with our team. Our office team does not supplement support for clients that may be best served by a case manager. Our team can communicate with clients expectations of a move, review the Client’s walkthrough video, and determine a plan for their move.
LiveSwitch and Video Estimates
To provide more accurate estimates for participants of non-profit organization programs, we require a video walkthrough of someone’s home or space to evaluate a proper inventory list (as required for shipments) and an understanding of the crew size, truck size, and number of hours expected to complete a job.
The team retains the right to record or document video or photos when they arrive on site to record the preparedness of the client, and to capture any extra items or inventory not originally listed in the estimate (which may affect the quote).
Authorization of Work
We ask that authorized representatives of Organizations sign their estimate as a means to authorize that we proceed with booking the move. We do not automatically book a move simply because a form was filled out on our website.
We are happy to reserve a move spot, in the interim that a case manager is waiting on approval of our estimate, or final details of the move. A reserved move is not the same as a booked move, as a reserved move becomes a booked move upon signing an estimate.
This signature on an estimate is an agreement between Organization and A Move to Remember to proceed with work or moving services.
Things to Keep in Mind
Below are our services we do and don’t offer for participants of non-profit organization programs, and this list may differ from our regular services provided to clients who work with us directly.
Services Included
Move to Remember offers the following services for each authorized move:
- Moves within Cook and Collar counties (at an hourly rate) and moves outside of Cook and Collar counties (at a weight-rate cost)
- Loading, transporting, and unloading of a client’s personal property
- Standard moving equipment at no additional charge includes dollies, moving blankets, plastic wrap, straps, tape, and speed packs
- A moving truck of appropriate size (included in the hourly rate)
- Assembly or disassembly of furniture requiring basic tools like Allen wrenches
Services Offered At An Additional Cost
- Full or partial packing services (quoted at a per packed box rate)
- Full or partial unpacking services (quoted at a per packed box rate)
- Overnight holds on truck or “Storage in Transit”
- Assembly or disassembly of furniture requiring tools beyond basic Allen wrenches
- Materials and containers that are sold to Client for use on their move
- Personal Organization, or helping clients who need some extra encouragement of sorting through their items, deciding what is staying and/or going, and would like to go through each item with the team on items that are packed into boxes and/or moved. (this last part needs to be reworded but I can’t think of the best way to say it, I’ll try to come back to this)
- Surprise Pick-ups or Drop-offs same-day of move (requires approval of administration of Organization)
Services Not Offered
- Short-term or long-term storage (see alternative options below)
- Junk Removal Services (we have recommendations for you)
- Long-term storage services
- White-Glove or no-contact services (we ask clients to be present for the entirety of their move)
- Piano, or speciality item moving
- Legal, Medical or Counseling services, which includes emotional or mental health support that would be best managed by a licensed clinical social worker or licensed social worker

AMTR came in and saved my recent residential move after I had a snafu and needed last-minute help. Thank you to David and Trix (sp?) in the front office. They went above and beyond to process my request and coordinate my last-minute move during busy season. These folks are staying late to make sure their customers and teams are all set. I'm glad I didn't cry on the phone because they didn't ask for that, but I was so relieved I could have! Onsite, foreman Lancaster and his team of three were so kind and efficient. They worked hard through intense heat, a sudden torrential downpour, power going out leading to a darkened stairwell, and moving extra items from my last-minute packing. My items all arrived safe and the guys were careful with my things. I did a lot of prepacking and wrapping, but they made sure that everything I didn't think to wrap or box was protected. We used AMTR to move from Chicago to NYC and had a fantastic experience. Each step of the way they took care of everything & communication was phenomenal. Lancaster, Orlando, Eduardo, and Benji took care of packing everything up and loading up the truck. They were extremely careful with our stuff, going above and beyond to separate fragile items and giving extra care to make sure they made it to NYC safely. Since this was a 2 day process, they even made sure to leave a few things to the next day (toothbrushes, soap, etc) so we had everything we needed in the evening. They were prompt, responsive, and finished everything so quickly! During the whole process, Trix & David were great about communicating with us each step of the way, and Trix personally drove our stuff out himself after someone else was out sick to ensure that we were able to get everything moved within a tight weekend timeline. I’m super grateful we went with AMTR and would highly recommend them!! I’ve probably moved 10+ times in the last 15 years and this was easily the most stress-free move I’ve ever had.

Orlando, Francisco, and Eduardo did a fantastic job helping us move into our new condo despite the setbacks. They arrived a few hours late due to a prior move that morning, and halfway through our move in Wicker Park, the elevator broke! They had no choice but to walk our heavy furniture down the stairs from the 4th floor. Through all the difficulties, they remained positive and professional, and at the end of the day, they were able to move everything into our new home in Albany Park without damaging a single item AND managed to keep to the four-hour schedule despite losing the elevator.
