What you need to know
You have enough on your mind right now without having to hunt down basic answers. Moving involves a lot of moving parts, and clear expectations are the foundation of a stress-free day. Below, we’ve laid out immediate, honest answers to the questions we hear most often from folks preparing for a residential transition.
Will you take apart and reassemble my furniture?
Yes, and we include it in our hourly rate. We disassemble beds, tables, and basic shelving before loading and assemble your items where you’d like it at your destination. If you have items that are unusual to disassemble, please let us know as we prepare for your move.
Do I need to empty my dresser drawers?
Ideally, yes. IKEA-like furniture with items still in their drawers can rupture, and we can not hold liability for damaged items due to the weight of your drawers. In all cases, glass-front, antique, and particle-board dressers should be emptied completely.
Will my IKEA furniture survive the move?
It depends on its longevity. IKEA is similar to cardboard boxes, in that it usually survives no more than 3 moves. In general, cam-lock hardware is meant to be assembled once and not to be moved out of the home again. Most licensed movers (including us) exclude pressboard furniture from damage coverage for this reason.
Do you move appliances and do you disconnect them?
We move washers, dryers, refrigerators, stoves, and freezers. We don’t disconnect or reconnect anything involving a gas line, a water line, or hardwired electrical, but we can recommend folks who can. These appliances are moved within our normal hourly rate.
Will my sofa fit through the door?
If a piece is genuinely too large, we will take off the legs or feet, take the door off its hinges, or plan to hoist your item through a window or balcony. In general, some items may get into your space, but could have a harder time getting out of your space.
Can you move a piano, organ, or safe?
Yes we can, however these items come with an additional charge. We do not hold responsibility for the need to re-tune your piano or organ after your move is complete.
